About the Event

Due to popular demand, we are really excited to announce TAG Network Midlands upcoming Black History Month celebration event Making Legacies: Entrepreneurship & Wealth Creation

Event Premise:

This event will be an insight into entrepreneurism within the Black community to the direct economic contributions these businesses have made on society.

We will also discuss the value of business growth within Black enterprises, resources, the importance of entrepreneurial role models & mentors, access to funding, resilience and mindset, the future of entrepreneurship amongst the next generation, and the positive support the wider business community should provide to help everyone to thrive.

Our Guest Panel:

Professor Monder Ram OBE, Professor of Small Business at Aston University who's research goals are strengthen understanding of diversity and entrepreneurship, as well as to make a difference to the diverse communities who own and work in small enterprises. He is also a Director of the Centre for Research in Ethnic Minority Entrepreneurship (CREME), a Centre he founded in 2004, which is also based at Aston Business School, Aston University.

Tru Powell, a multi-award winning creative entrepreneur, publicity coach and personal brand strategist passionate about supporting entrepreneurs cultivate their personal brands through the power of press and PR. He is also the Creative & Events Director for Aston Performing Arts Academy, a community interest organisation that exists to empower young people through performing and creative arts. Tru is the director of Kandy Girl, the UK’s first children’s spa that aims to make all children feel fabulous through pampering and pamper parties. Tru is a Board Member for Birmingham Hippodrome, The West Midlands Regional Tourism Board and TAG Network Midlands.

Tara Tomes, Managing Director & Owner of award-winning EAST VILLAGE founded back in 2013. She’s the driver behind the brand and is focused on building an agency for the future through her three passions: PR, People and Paying-it-Forward. Having specialised in lifestyle PR from the start of her career, she’s delivered campaigns for the likes of Stella McCartney, BBC Good Food Show, Taste of Birmingham, Style Birmingham Live and International Dance Festival Birmingham.

This event will be presented by Alex Tross, the newly appointed Commercial Director at Centrick Property with over 15 years of experience working in the property industry, having qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2008. Alex sits on the West Midlands Office Agents Society Committee. In his capacity as a Colmore Business District Board Director, He is also Deputy Chair of the Board and Working Group lead for the BID’s Place Marketing & Hospitality committee.
