Company: BDO LLP

Occupation: Corporate Finance M&A

Professional Specialism: Finance

What music track would describe you best?

This is a tough one. It doesn’t describe me as such, but being from Somerset I can’t get away without saying 'The Wurzels' so I will have to go with Drink Up Thee Cider. Being a big fan of cider (not Strongbow!) and Bristol City it covers these two interests quite well.

Tell us a little bit about yourself...

I enjoy golf (dependent on my form and the weather), football and skiing. Having lived in Japan for 2+ years, I also take weekly Japanese classes to try and keep it fresh.

Since a young age I have also been slowly been ticking off the 92 football league grounds. I think I am on about 65 now so still have a few to go. Unfortunately, supporting Bristol City means most of the missing grounds are Premiership teams.

What are your career goals?

I don’t have any long-term concrete goals as such but my aim is to always be doing something that I enjoy. Ten

years down the line, where and what that will be I am unsure.

What challenges do you face on a daily basis?

Trying to manage my workload is always a challenge. Being a junior member of the team you receive quite a few one off tasks to complete alongside the main projects that you are working on so time management is important.

What has been your greatest career milestone to date?

Having only been on the trainee scheme for 6 months I am still working towards a stand-out achievement. We have quarterly awards which recognise exceptional pieces of work so that is something I can work towards.

What would you like to achieve in the future?

Naturally I plan to continue to develop and learn, however, actually sitting at the table and closing a transaction is something I would like to achieve.

What advice for success or positivity would you like to share with others?

I suppose this depends on how you define success. However, I would say simply pursue activities/roles that you genuinely enjoy and let that determine your success.
