Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a first year Trainee at Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP. I came to law as a career change after some time as a forensic scientist. My first degree is in chemistry and I studied law at The University of Law.
I enjoy networking and getting involved; I am part of the Jewellery Quarter neighbourhood plan group and have been working on setting up a charity project Suited For Success with other young professionals in the city.
I live in Birmingham city centre and love the variety of bars, restaurants, culture, museums and entertainment that it has to offer. My interests are baking, camping, MotoGP, and geocaching.
What are your career aspirations?
My career aspiration is to become a specialist in my chosen area of law, whatever that may be, and to make a positive difference to society via my work.
What challenges do you face on a daily basis?
My challenge is the same as any trainee solicitor, moving into a new area of law every seat change and having to learn a new area of law and adapt to each seat.
What has been your greatest career milestone to date?
As a Forensic Scientist it was passing the expert witness course, within law I think it was being offered a training contract at the firm I wanted to work for. It is such a difficult process getting a training contract offer, so to be offered one at the firm I wanted to work for was brilliant.
What would you like to achieve in the future?
To continue to learn and have fun. I don’t have a burning ambition to achieve a particular goal as life has taken some unexpected twists and turns along the way I just want to enjoy myself.
What advice for success or insight would you like to share with others?
It’s never too late to change your career path, if you are no longer enjoying your job or career then make that change. You spend far too long in the workplace to not enjoy what you do.
