Tell Us About

Yourself

Hi, I'm Jade Elliott-Archer

Age: 23

Occupation: Trainee Solicitor

Professional/Sector Specialism: Law

Tell us a little bit about yourself (Hobbies/Interests/Activities)?

I am a huge music fan and I attend music concerts on a regular basis.

I also try to keep active by swimming and going to the gym, and I recently climbed mount Snowdon. I am also a very keen traveller and have travelled to places such as America, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, and I have most recently been interrailing around Europe.

What are your career goals/aspirations?

I am looking forward to qualifying into the Medical Law and Patients' rights team once I finish my Training Contract. Once I qualify I hope to remain at Irwin Mitchell and begin my progression through the firm.

What challenges have/do you face?

I often assist clients who have suffered traumatic and life changing injuries. Seeing the devastating impact of such injuries on client's lives can be a challenge.

However, it is satisfying to know that I am assisting them in securing compensation and helping them to make progress in their lives, which is something which is important to everyone at Irwin Mitchell

What has been your greatest career achievement to date?
One of my greatest achievements was obtaining my Training Contract at such a fantastic law firm. There is a lot of competition for Training Contracts, and I was very proud to obtain a Training Contract while I was in my second year at university.

What would you like to achieve in the future?
I would like to be successful and happy in my career going forward. I would also like to continue to my experiences of travelling.

What advice or tips for success would you like to give to others?
I would advise anybody who is applying for Training Contracts or graduate roles to research in depth the company that they are applying for, and tailor their application to that specific company.

I also think that it is really beneficial to have wider experience such as travelling, or experience working in different sectors.

I had not worked in a law firm before securing my Training Contract, however I believe that my experiences travelling, working in a variety of hospitality roles and supporting pro bono projects helped me to show the skills that I needed to be successful in the applications process.
