A New Entrepreneurial Landscape
NatWest – in association with Entrepreneurial Spark and KPMG – has launched business accelerator hubs across the UK. The accelerator hubs bring together entrepreneurs, business advisors and local experts to deliver hands on mentoring and a programme of advice and support for ambitious entrepreneurs.
John Loveday, Founder of Spearhead Compliance training is one of the ‘chiclets’ currently enrolled on the programme. His business recently announced the arrival of business guru and mentor Steve Smith – Founder of Poundland – to the board. Steve brings a cash investment and valuable contacts to the business which aims to take it to the next level of growth.
John puts his success down to the programme. “After we met Steve he asked some tough questions, questions which had fortunately been called out and addressed during ‘Piranha Pits’.” These ‘Piranha Pits’ – or intensive ‘investment ready’ workshops – are one example of the support structure put in place around entrepreneurs to build confidence and skills.

“The scale of support and opportunities now available for entrepreneurs in the region is due to be showcased at KPMG in Birmingham during ‘Opportunity Knocks’ on Friday 20th November.
“This is a shining example of the ecosystem in action, with entrepreneurs, ecosystem partners and mentors coming together for a structured programme of sessions ranging from crowd funding, overseas trade, IP licensing and early stage finance” states Darren Pirie, Head of Entrepreneur Development at RBS.
